Filter

White key 5. A DJ filter, lowpass one way and highpass the other, with an LFO on the cutoff that follows the tempo: a state-variable filter, on the cutoff knob of WAVE’s DJ filter.

The white keys from above, the filter lit on key 5; its knobs 1 to 4 are cutoff, resonance, LFO depth, LFO division

Knob Page 1 Page 2
1 Cutoff: lowpass left of centre, highpass right, flat at centre (default centre, flat) Mix
2 Resonance (default 50%) Stereo: the right channel’s LFO up to half a cycle behind, so the sweep moves across (default off; only with the LFO)
3 LFO depth (default off) Band
4 LFO division: 1/16, 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 1 bar, 2 bars, 4 bars (default 1 bar) Level
  • LFO: a triangle on the cutoff, synced to the tempo. At full depth it sweeps half the cutoff knob either way, so from the centre it goes all the way from lowpass to highpass. It’s at the centre of the cutoff on the beat and rises towards highpass first. Like the delay’s events, the beat is counted from the loop’s start, or without a loop from when the clock locked, not from the DAW’s beat 1.
  • Slopes: 12 dB per octave either way. The resonance goes from none to a peak of about 20 dB at the cutoff; at the centre the filter is out of the sound, whatever the resonance.
  • LEDs: the key is pink; the cutoff goes blue through white (flat) to orange, the other knobs pink to light blue.
